Dimensional Control Survey
Full Dimensional Control service to vessels of all sizes, afloat or ashore
We specialise in precise Dimensional Control Surveys, which is provided to our international client base using our network of professional survey engineers.
Dimensional Control
Dimensional control surveying is a precise technique and scientific discipline utilized to accurately measure three-dimensional spaces, effectively determining distances and angles between points to create digital maps. It is a proactive measure to mitigate such risks, offering a safer alternative by eliminating the need for these hazardous practices.
It is the process of acquiring accurate dimensional documentation that is spatially referenced to a known or established benchmark. Using the latest survey technology, Senat Marine Service can measure and produce 3D CAD models from single pipe spool replacements, wind turbine tower alignments to full Topside/Jacket construction surveys.
Project Fenix
Project Fenix involves the construction of a production platform that will connect three natural gas producing wells. This initiative is expected to provide 8% of current gas production, representing a significant boost to our national energy capacity.
Senat Marine Service S.A along with Maximiliano Masdeu & Associates, an offshore services company, were selected to carry out the dimensional control in a first campaign in December 2023. Currently, we are actively participating in the second campaign in the port of Punta Quilla, carrying out measurements and making decisions regarding the cuts and welding of the pipes that make up the sloop.
This challenge not only strengthens our professional commitment, but also contributes significantly to the production of energy for our country. We sincerely thank Saipem and Total Energies for trusting our team for this crucial project.
How we work
The captured data can be transformed to a client’s preferred format, offering quick and easy data evaluation and problem checking. As we offer a full draughting service, we can provide full 3D models using AutoCAD or Micro-station, 2D drawings, piping isometrics or Point Cloud data from our Laser Scanners. Our workforce provides decades of experience in the field of Dimensional Control, Engineering and Land survey.
Our Vessel Calibration Surveys allow survey sensors to operate within their specified tolerances, which will in turn provide accuracy and confidence in subsea datasets. We provide proof through our independent verification process that the combined vessel survey system is working to desired tolerances.
What we provide
These surveys are conducted using advanced surveying techniques, equipment, and software to ensure that marine assets meet design specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. Here’s a detailed overview of dimensional control survey services in the marine industry
Regulatory Compliance
Dimensional control surveys help ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and classification society rules governing ship construction, maintenance, and operation. Surveyors verify that ships and vessels meet minimum standards for structural integrity, stability, and safety, as well as specific requirements related to dimensions, load lines, freeboard, and other critical parameters.
Dry Dock Maintenance
Dimensional control surveys are routinely conducted during dry docking and maintenance activities to assess the condition and alignment of hull structures, propeller shafts, rudders, and other critical components. Surveyors measure dimensions such as hull thickness, shaft diameters, and alignment tolerances to identify any deviations, corrosion, wear, or damage that may require repair or corrective action.
Structural Integrity Assessment
Dimensional control surveys play a vital role in assessing the structural integrity and seaworthiness of ships and vessels. Surveyors measure key dimensions such as hull curvature, frame spacing, and bulkhead alignments to evaluate the overall condition of the vessel’s structure and identify any areas of concern that may affect its stability, strength, or performance.
