Warnes II
Engineering and Logistics for Wind Turbine Transportation
As part of the Warnes 2 Project, we were called upon to take on one of the most demanding logistical and engineering challenges: planning and executing the river transport of large wind turbine components.
Our involvement included the complete design of the loading plan for 20 barges, considering both the dimensions and the extreme weight of some components, which exceeded 150 tons.
- The structural design and calculation of the necessary supports
- Finite element simulation (FEA) using ANSYS to validate structural behavior under real-world loading conditions
- Custom component manufacturing
- Preparation of loading, stowage, and lashing plans
- Development of the specific loading sequence for each barge, adapted to the characteristics of the transported assembly
- The combination and use of box and rake barges, optimizing space and weight distribution
- Stability calculations for each river vessel
Each support was specifically designed to adapt to the conditions of the route, ensuring safe and efficient operation. The integration of engineering, advanced simulation, logistics, and field experience was key to meeting the project’s deadlines and standards.
The result: a successful transfer, documented step by step, of which we share some outstanding images today.
Project Fenix
Project Fenix involves the construction of a production platform that will connect three natural gas producing wells. This initiative is expected to provide 8% of current gas production, representing a significant boost to our national energy capacity.
Senat Marine Service S.A along with Maximiliano Masdeu & Associates, an offshore services company, were selected to carry out the dimensional control in a first campaign in December 2023. Currently, we are actively participating in the second campaign in the port of Punta Quilla, carrying out measurements and making decisions regarding the cuts and welding of the pipes that make up the sloop.
This challenge not only strengthens our professional commitment, but also contributes significantly to the production of energy for our country. We sincerely thank Saipem and Total Energies for trusting our team for this crucial project.
